The interview on Monday went well, I thought. I have a different interview today. Two in one week, makes me feel a bit more confident about getting out of this unemployment hole that I’m in.
I bought Michelle a 17" LCD monitor for an early Valentine’s day gift, she loved it! She rearranged her whole working envirnonment. Now we just have to get that humongous laser printer off of her desk. Next up, the Shuttle SN41G2. Once I get that for her, she’ll have a pretty bad-ass computing environment!
Let’s hope this is a good week. I am going to my first of two interviews this week. It’s at 11am. I really neeeeeeed to get a job. Being unemployed sucks.
Oh yeah, they must have made a grading error on my exam. Turns out, I got 43/50, and 50/50 on the project. So I got a 93/100 on my first exam, and Michelle got a 98/100…good for her, and good for us!
Oh yeah, had my first Accounting exam in my pursuit of an MBA. Got a 41/50… not so bad considering how much time I put into it. Although, I’d have loved to get a 45+ on it. Oh well. My wife, however, she kicked a$$ and got a 48/50. She’s smart, and good at school. I’m a slacker. :D
Hello friends. Things have been quite busy for me as of late. I’ve been fairly busy with some web work over the past few weeks, and have been really busy trying to get Axim Users Dot Com off the ground. It’s taking off much better than I had anticipated, and as a result, I haven’t been paying much attention to my Blog. I should at least write a little something here or there, though.
Also, the funeral last weekend really hurt… hard to get going this week, but I managed, and so did the rest of my family.
You know, what’s going on with Iraq? From the looks of things, the U.S. is starting to get backing for attacking Iraq again. Our good friend Mr. Blair, always by our side. What a stand-up kind of guy!!
I just LOVE these Shuttle small form factor PCs!!! I am DEFINITELY going to buy one for my wife, Michelle. She deserves it. She deserves a sleek and sexy PC to use. I don’t want her to have to have a midsize tower, or even a big 19" CRT. She deserves this SFF PC and a 17" LCD soon. Just gotta get a job!!!
And on that note, I have two interviews next week. Let’s hope something good comes of it.
It’s been a pretty rough week, filled with good news and bad news.
The good news: It was my birthday on January 23. Axim Users Dot Com has started to take off, with over 300 users registered now! A few websites, mainly Pocket PC Thoughts, posted a small blurb on my site, drawing nearly 100 users over to my site. Thanks Pocket PC Thoughts, and thanks to the other, smaller sites, who mentioned my site on their home page or in their discussion forums.
The bad news: My dear aunt Sophia passed away on January 22. She was my dad’s only remaining sister. My dad follower her here from Greece back in the late 60s. She came in the late 50s. She’s the only blood relative we had living near us, here in Detroit. She was the pillar of our family, and a great woman. She’s going to be deeply missed. I am still in shock over her death. However, her death was very peaceful. We were all in the hospital room when her blood pressure and pulse slowly crept into a deep sleep. :( Although it came as a surprise, the sight of her in the hospital was horrible, and seeing her at “peace” is a beautiful thing.
Hey friends. I’ve been pretty busy getting Axim Users Dot Com up and running. It’s evolved from a forum using Invision Board to a portal based on the Invision Board. It’s getting rave reviews so far, and a small community is forming.
I’ve had a headache with my Axim X5 and Dell’s customer service and tech support thus far. My directional pad sucks, as do many others with the Axim so far.
I’m still unemployed. Going on four months now. It’s getting kind of old. I HAVE been busy with side work lately, so that’s a good thing.
Okay, I’m an avid moviegoer. I live about 3/4 of a mile from a 30 screen MEGA theatre in Suburban Detroit. I would buy a subscription to the theatre if they sold one.
One of my favorite parts of going to the movies is the trailers they show before the movie starts rolling. This gets me excited about future film releases, and lets me know what to watch and what not to watch.
Lately, over the past few years, a new trend has started. First, there were commercials about the movie theatre before the trailers started. Then, there were commercials for popular products sold at the concessions stand, like Coke commercials. Now, there are commercials about the Army, automobiles, television shows, etc.
Is it me, or do we pay $5.00-$10.00 (depending on time, age, student, etc.) for a commercial free movie? That’s why we go to the movies and NOT watch them on network television. HBO doesn’t have commercials (except for HBO content), because we PAY for HBO (at least, SOME of us do). Why should there be commercials when we pay a premium price for 90 to 200 minutes of our entertainment time. These commercials add up to 10 minutes to our moviegoing experience.
So, my first MBA class was pretty damn cool. I absolutely LOVED the professor. She was an excellent speaker/teacher/whatever. I also found the guy, locally, with the textbook. We are going to try and meet up tomorrow. That’s all for now.
Hey friends! It’s been a few days since I’ve blogged. I’m about to head down to school for my first class in my pursuit for an MBA!
I found the book I need on www.half.com for $30 plus shipping (used) compared to $97.35 for it new. Man, I love the internet as a community!
Let’s hope Michelle enjoyed her first day at school. I have a feeling she’s not going to like this class she’s in. Finite Element Analysis. ICK!
So far, Axim Users Dot Com is working out nicely. I’ve got about 52 users on the site, and it seems that about 10 of them are active. I hope that more and more Axim users will flock to this site. I need to do something more to it to make it more attractive. I need to make a portal out of it!
I NEED TO GO TO BED!
Thanks to Dan, I’ve now got Favorite Icons for www.computerninja.com and for www.aximusers.com. Thanks again, Dan!
I’ve figured out how to sync my Axim X5 via WiFi (802.11b). You can read details of this at www.aximusers.com.
I’ve also figured out how to use my cell phone to get online, using IR and my Axim X5. You can read about this on the site mentioned above, also. If I get really frisky with this, maybe I’ll get a bluetooth card, but I can’t see myself actually NEEDING to get online so much that I’ll need to spend the $$$ on the bluetooth and the data bill from AT&T Wireless!
Okay, off to a night of Vasilopita (Greek New Year’s cake) and Scrabble with Chuck and Heather! Let’s hope Michelle and I can beat them, collectively!
The Blue Mountain trip was a damn good time! The snowboarding was awesome on the first day, the 30th of December. On the 2nd day, the snow was very slushy, the runs were sometimes non-existent, and they started to close the ticket booths for lift tickets. All-in-all, the trip was a damn good times. You can see photos at http://photos.filias.com, under the 2003 albums.
Holiday Week:
The holiday week and weekend have been very fun. Celebrated Dan’s birthday on Friday, and had a surprise birthday party last night! Man, the party last night was like a wedding. I think I’ve been to weddings that were smaller than this!!
Snowboarding trip:
Going to Blue Mountain tomorrow morning for 3 days of snowboarding. Excited and nervous at the same time… every year, I slightly regress at the beginning of snowboarding season. It often takes up to 1 full day to get the hang of it again!
Dell Axim X5:
I can’t get over how awesome this pocket pc is. I got the memory and 802.11b network card. It’s a damn good time!!!
Parents’ birthday dinner:
We had a very nice family birthday dinner for my mom and dad tonight. They have birthdays on Dec. 23 and Jan. 6. We took them out to eat, just our immediate family and significant others. Very nice time, relaxing, warm.
New Year’s Resolution:
Start exercising again (too many people say this) and get back into training (marathon). I want to run the Oct. 5, 2003, Detroit marathon! I want to improve my time. I want to try to get under 180 pounds, as I was so close this summer, 180.4, I think. I think I’m up to about 187 pounds now…still, it’s much better than 205+ that I was a year ago.
Merry Christmas (LATE!)!!!
My wife, Michelle, bought me the Dell Axim X5. Okay, I have to admit, I kind of had an idea about it. There weren’t too many things she could buy me that I didn’t already have. Well, today, I ordered some SD memory and an 802.11b CompactFlash card for it. Should be neat to have that puppy wireless in here!
I bought her a Swiss Army watch, very similar to the one I got for myself a few weeks ago, but I had mine wrapped as an XMAS gift, as well! She loved her watch! My brother got us Juiceman Pro, or whatever it’s called. We got a bunch of other knick knacks, like snowboarding helmets, as we’re going to Blue Mountain for New Year’s and for Valentine’s Day. We’re not able to make it out West or out East this year… we’re trying to conserve a little bit!
I got a few phone calls yesterday from my cousins, asking for computer help. I told one of them they can help themselves, it’s not tough. The other needs a new PC, pretty much, as they got Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3, and their PC is pretty old. Pentium II 400, with a RivaTNT video card. Not even close to being able to play today’s games! We’ll set them up!
Later!
