Definition of BEH!

· Uncategorized

Where did it come from?
Some of you may hear me or “read” me saying “beh” from time to time. You may wonder what this is, what it means, or why I say it. If you could envision a foreigner, primarily from the Middle East, Greece, or some Eastern European country, making an audible gesture of disgust, or apathy, you’d possibly hear him or her say, “beh”.

It’s much easier for me to say “beh” than it is for me to say or type “I don’t care. Don’t worry about it. Who cares?”.

Why am I writing this? I felt it was time to start explaining myself, cracking open my skull, if you will. Won’t you? :D

Final Marketing Class and Casino!

· Uncategorized

Club Exodus:
So, we had our final marketing class last night. We met at Club Exodus in Greektown, which is upstairs from the Golden Fleece. I was the first one there, and started having Red Bull and Raspberry Stoli. Damn good. I had two or three those while there. They are so damn tasty. Michelle and Angela arrived, and we hung out for a while until the rest of the class showed up. It was actually kind of interesting to meet there. We quickly ended up outdoors, on the rooftop deck/patio, as the inside wasn’t as fun and roomy. Spiro and his Uncle Vasili had set up a buffet for us. Rice Pilaf, Lamb and Chicken (no veggies!) kabobs, spinach pies, and salad. It was awesome, actually. I hadn’t had plain kabobs since I was in Greece. A nice treat. A crazy thing I noticed was that they actually have Amita juice, imported from Greece. I have NEVER seen Amita anywhere but in Greece! Hanging out on the deck was actually pretty cool. Got to see Jason Vaughn, the youngest brother of my friend, Jason, who I used to trade Commodore Amiga games with, back in the day. Jason and Joe are freelance photographers, and often do work for Hour Detroit Magazine on their own. They also have lots of projects they do for other gigs. Not a bad situation, it sounded like. Jason is actually dating this Perez chick who is in our class. Again, it was a surprise. Anyway, the evening ended with Sheila having Spiro talk a little bit about the restaurant and how they formed the club upstairs. He’s basically a 23 year old guy who decided it would be a good idea to have a club upstairs from the Golden Fleece. Not a bad spot, actually, and if Detroit actually grows, and he can pull off his private parties that he seems to have periodically, it won’t do all that bad. Apparently, they have Greek Night every other Saturday. It’d be neat to go down there one Saturday night! Spiro fielded some questions from the crowd, and then Sheila would interject here and there about other aspects of “marketing” and the birth of Detroit. It wasn’t that bad. As we were leaving, Sheila gave me a hug, kind of cool! Nice gal.

Damn Casino:
It always seems that when I casually hit up the casino, I lose. And lose I did. I lost about 80 bucks, and Michelle lost about 40 bucks on War. I played Blackjack, of course. I was up a bit, but got emotional and started making larger bets when I would lose some mid-sized bets. Damn gambling! Aaron, on the other hand, hit the War table with 40 bux, and walked with 325, and tipping the dealer 10 bux. He bought us a round of drinks. It was awesome to hang out with Aaron, Angela, Dave and his wife, Michelle, and Wurm. I like those people. I hope we can share some of the same classes as we move forward in our MBAs. So here I am, two semesters down, and about 7 to go. Let’s hope it’s this easy the whole way through!

Boot Camp Photo Shoot

· Uncategorized

So, Demo and Ike know this guy named Jeff who does a “Boot Camp” in downtown Birmingham. We met at the Peabody parking garage at 5:30 and headed over to Shain Park. The reason we went here today was because Hour Detroit Magazine was doing a photo shoot/story on Jeff’s “Boot Camp”. We all figured it would give us a chance to be in the magazine, and hopefully get us “discovered”!!! Yeah, right. Anyway, we started with the short jog, about 2 blocks. To start off, we did some various crunch exercises. The first set of actual exercises we did was a combination of mountain climbers, pushups, and squats. We also did various crunching exercises after the calisthenics. The 2nd group of exercises was using a children’s jungle gym to do pushups, dips, pushups, dips, mountain climbers, real dips, monkey bars, and then we shuffled, ran backwards, shuffled, and ran forwards around the park’s block. To finish this set, we did foot touches with a light pounding on our lower stomach (down and up motion). The third set of excercises was crab walking, lunging, and running, three times. We ended the morning’s routine with more ab work: 30 crunches, 30 side to side crunches, and 30 superman (on the stomach) lifts. Not bad for :50 of work. Had a decent sweat going, too.

After this, I decided to run 3 more miles. The boot camp took about 1 mile of distance up. Ike and Demo ran with me. Ike ran about 2 miles, and Demo ran the 3 miles with me. It was nice, as we ran through and around downtown Birmingham. I never really saw it when it was dead and empty…just getting going. Kind of nice. Definitely high-rent!

Final Class Session

· Uncategorized

Tonight is our final class, and it’s in Greektown!!! I can’t wait until it’s over. Just have to finalize our paper. I compiled most of it last night, but I still need to get an introduction and a conclusion in this thing. The best thing about this class is that we had a take-home final. Through the grace of God, we’re done with it. I just have to fill in the dots!

Cheyenne's Horse Show, David's Birthday, and Running at Kensington

· Uncategorized

Cheyenne’s Horse Show:
Michelle and I had the fabulous opportunity to see her cousin, Cheyenne, perform in a horse show this weeked up in Imlay City at the East Michigan Fair. Cheyenne was stupendous. She won all 12 events she was in, and her horse, Morgan, was the Reserve Grand Champion! Good for you Cheyenne, Morgan, and the rest of the family! Here are some pictures. It was great to see the entire Moore family: Rico, Corrine, Blake, Nathan, and Cheyenne! Blake is getting ready to go down to Lima, Ohio, where he’ll do 3 years at mechanic’s school. Sounds like a great opportunity for him!

The way this happened was that we were sort of planning to go up there on Saturday, after our EARLY 15 mile run. We didn’t think that we’d 1) Sleep in on Saturday morning (sort of becoming a habit), and 2) Get a phone call at 8:45AM asking us to come up there. The crazy thing was that the message said she was going on at 10AM. I turned over to Michelle and said: How far away is it? Can we get there by 10AM? She said sure, and we quickly got to our feet and were there by 9:45AM. Thanks to the Saab 93 Vector, of course! We’re both so glad we made it up there. It turned into one of those lazy Saturdays where we play all day!

David’s Birthday:
After we came home from Imlay City and Great Lakes Crossing, we started getting ready for David’s birthday party at Augie’s. I washed the Saab so that I could show it off (but I never got to in the daylight) and Michelle showered up! We had a blast at Augie’s. Uncle Dick and Aunt Marlene were at their best! David got hammered, which was a damn good time, and the rest of us just enjoyed the night. A little loud and hard to talk, but what the hell… it’s Augie’s!

32 inch waist!
For the first time since 1992, I was able to get myself into 32 inch shorts! I picked up some 33 and 32 inch DKNY shorts from Saks Off Fifth Avenue on Saturday! BOY OH BOY! I am so pumped! I’m sick of wearing 36 inch waist shorts having to always pull them up!

Run on Sunday:
So we decided that we’d run on Sunday, which we did. And let me tell you, it was the best long run we’ve ever had. Ended up going to Kensington Metro Park, which was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The weather couldn’t have been better. High 70s, near 80, and cloud covered. The sun never had a chance to get us, and the slightly cool temps really helped us out. Part of the run/bike path goes along the water, other parts go throug the woods. It’s definitely a spot we want to go back to. We’ll definitely do our 20 mile run there, as it is VERY peaceful, and very stimulating. The scenery changes so often that it keeps you going!

Can the damn class be over yet?

Group meeting:
So, we were supposed to meet up with our Marketin class group last night. We went to The Rock on 3rd in Royal Joke. Man, that place was packed. They have $1 Labatt’s on Thursdays, so all the youngsters gather to get their drink on. It was actually alright, but I was hoping for a quieter place. And…they could have at least opened the fucking windows. I hate smokehouses! Place was loud, too. Anyway, we waited there until about 8:45PM for our group member, Angela. We thought she was getting lucky on her blind date! :D Actually, we’re all losers for not sharing our cell phone numbers. So the five of us decided to go to Mr. B’s and sit outside. It actually turned out nice! Aaron, James (Wurm) and his girl Jill, me, and Michelle found the corner table was opened, and had them dry it off. We enjoyed over 2 hours of just bullshitting, people, car, and motorcycle-watching on Main St. We didn’t really talk about the paper like we were supposed to, just hung out.

Denny, Dave, and the WRX:
At the end, Denny and his roommates came, as well as our friend from high school, Sherry. She’s going through a divorce, damn shame. Can’t win ’em all, right? It was great to see Denny! I actually saw him earlier, before I went to The Rock on 3rd. I met his roommate, Dave, who took me for a ride in his 227hp Subura WRX. Nice ride. He’s done a few things to it, and it is definitely a performer! He tells me that the Saab 92 that comes out next year is going to be a WRX with a Saab shell over it. Damn, how fun is that? That’s what I need to get! We’ll trade the 93 in for that!!! Probably not, but you can always dream!

Fixed!!!

I changed the link to the stylesheet by removing the variable that held the blog URL. Now it works in Mozilla! I bet Scott will be happy, too!

Damn CSS issues!

· Uncategorized

I am trying to figure out why my webserver is spitting out the CSS files as text/plain? Internet Explorer plays nice w/ others, and takes care of it, properly formatting everything I need, properly. Shit, now that I think of it, this message entry interface is using a stylesheet, and it’s showing up fine in Mozilla. I don’t know why my actualy blog doesn’t show up properly in Mozilla.

Bounty for Dead Americans? Damn!

Yahoo! News - Saddam’s Followers Raise Bounty for Dead Americans

I can’t believe this shit. What’s it gonna take to just get rid of these bastards over there? I guess I’d be kind of pissed if there was a foreign military group here in the U.S. I’d want to get rid of them, too. It’s almost like an ongoing movie.

Running last night:
Michelle and I had an amazing 7 miler last night. Just about the exact same time as last weeks, but this time, we kept it VERY consistent! We used the Timex GPS watch to TRY and keep us between an 8:50 and 9:15 pace. The longest stretch we had where we were actually IN that pace was about 10-15 seconds! I have to hand it to the pros, they are amazing. I guess they can run an entire marathon and only vary their mile pace by 2 seconds! AMAZING! Simply amazing! I kicked it up a notch the last mile, and did it in 7:38. I was hoping I’d do it faster. I think I did the first 1/2 mile faster, but started to lose a little bit of steam near the end. All in all, a great run. This morning’s run was very difficult. It took nearly 40 minutes. I didn’t have the energy and lungs (it seemed) to run any faster. After all, I had just run 7 miles less than 12 hours ago!

Gina came over!

· Uncategorized

Gina:
Gina came by to pick up a tent, sleeping bag, and tarp for the big camping weekend at The Pinery in Ontario, Canada. She goes there each and every summer with all of her friends. The coolest thing about it is that she gets to hang out with our older brother, Dino.

Running:
Did another very nice 7 mile run tonight. Did it in 1:02:02, about 9 seconds faster than last Wednesday’s run. Also, did the last mile in 7:38, which was a great effort, if I do say so myself! :)

Got the Saab Back

· Uncategorized

So, after having the Saab in the shop since last Friday morning, we finally got it back. They programmed the HomeLink rearview mirror on button number 2. Strange. I wonder if button number 1 doesn’t work? Oh well??? They rubbed out the scratches on the trunk lid, they seem to fixed the rattling doors, about 90%, anyway. I heard a faint rattle on the way in to work this morning when I was listening to WWJ 950 AM kind of loud. Maybe the baritone voice of the newscaster was just too much? Who knows. And I guess they replaced the OnStar VIU. I haven’t read the paperwork yet. Anyway, I forgot how much I love the car since I haven’t driven it since last Thursday!!!

The Italian Job

Yahoo! Movies: The Italian Job (2003) - Movie Info

This movie was awesome! Michelle and I saw it with her mom last night. She didn’t want to go at first, but I know she would have regretted it. I think she was VERY entertained by the end of the movie. It was just a good old fashioned (in idea) robbery movie. Although, in the movie, they used some VERY high-tech methods to accomplish their two heists.

The movie was fantastic. The acting was excellent. The car chase scene was amazing!

Okay, so I decided that it would be a good idea to go through all my blog entries and 1) categorize them and 2) rename the titles since the import sucked.
