Those poor Detroit Lions. They scored first with a fumble recovery runback, but they haven’t scored since. They are down 28-7, at home, and the 2nd half is about to get under way.
Fun morning Went to Starbucks to write my term paper for Contemporary Management. Not too bad. Had to write about motivation and how two motivation theories apply to the reward systems at work. I was able to come up with some pretty good material in the two or so hours I spent there. Not a bad day. Took a nice drive afterwards, up Orion road, to check out some of the phat cribs in Goodison. REAL PHAT. Also went grocery shopping, which is always fun.
Mr. R’s Carnival of Terror We swung by the haunted house last night. We wanted to see how it was going for Scott, Billy, and co. We were glad to see Steve, Billy, Scott, and Mr. Rouvalis. Looked like a fun way to spend a Friday night, if you asked me. Something I’d be interested in helping out with in the future. There was SOME craziness. Apparently, someone felt it necessary to punch one of their actors and take off running. What a loser.
This is awesome? The New York Post had two editorials ready to go last night. One if the Yankees won, and one if the Yankees lost. They accidentally transmitted the WRONG editorial to their printing facility!
A woman walks into a drug store and tells the pharmacist she wants to buy some arsenic. He says, “What do you want with arsenic?” She says, “I want to kill my husband because he cheats on me by having sex with another woman.” The pharmacist says, “I can’t sell you arsenic so you can kill your husband, even if he is having sex with another woman.” She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a picture of her husband having sex with the pharmacist’s wife. The pharmacist says “Oh, I didn’t realize you had a prescription.
I’m installing it now as we speak. Give it a shot. When I get rich again, maybe I’ll get myself an iPod. They also released some peripherals yesterday from Belkin that do some very nice things. They released some hardware that allows you to voice record « ho hum. But the really cool thing is the media card reader they installed. Now THAT rocks. You can be on vacation, taking pictures left and right, and have nearly unlimited space to dump the pictures and movies on to! Bye bye other devices that used to do the same thing! Dino has one of these things from MindWorks. Really helped me out in the past, but this is amazing!
How stupid is it that I can’t open my Outlook 2003 PST file in Outlook 2003 Beta? I think it’s pretty stupid. And, how stupid is it that I can’t install Office 2003 on my laptop? Apparently, it has some sort of incomplete service pack update? Isn’t that crazy? ARGH.
The poor Cubbies had a 3-0 lead in the 8th inning. A foul ball that was catchable was deflected by a fan that was ruled NOT to be interference by the umpires because the fan’s hand didn’t go over the wall. This started a downward spiral for the Cubs for that inning. The Marlins hit a ball that should have easily been turned into a double play, but the shortstop, Gonzalez, I think, had an error. Turned into a base hit. And it didn’t stop there. The Marlins ended up scoring 8 runs. The game ended, 8-3. That just sucks. I feel bad for my good friend, Mark, who practically LIVED in Wrigley Field for the past few years. That poor bastard! Mark, I’m sorry.
So here we are, Friday, enjoying our lunch with a group of friends. My work friends, Mike and Yogi, and my personal friends, Tony and Dan. Had a nice lunch at Yasmeen Bakery, enjoyed some Al-Jazeera TV, laughed, etc. We’re heading back to work along westbound Warren Ave. and Mike yelps for me to stop as the cars in front of me were stopping suddenly. No worries, I don’t tailgate, so we had plenty of room to stop with plenty of room between me and the car in front of me. But about 4 seconds later, I get bumped. DAMN! No biggie, I thought, but I KNEW!!! I get out of the car and see my rear passenger-side bumper is caved in (it’s plastic). Looks worse than it really is, as I popped it out later in the day. It was an Arab girl in a maroon Caravan that hit me. She barely had anything wrong with her bumper…just some smudges on her black bumper (her bumper smudged mine up real good, though)…I look to see who hit her…and lown and behold, it was Tony! How horrible. His Grand Prix got SMASHED, bad! He felt horrible. We move the cars out of the left westbound lane and pulled off onto a side street. Tony and I called our insurance company, AAA, and worked out our details for filing claims, etc. The Arab girl had her cousin roll up and help her out. She seemed a bit nervous, but not really. It all worked out in the end for her. You know, I should have taken a picture of the damage to the Saab, oh well.
Be sure to choose Detroit 05 2003. I am bib 900 and Michelle is bib 901. It’s a shame, she always gets gipped on the finish line photos, every single time, and she’s done 3 marathons! I feel bad for her. I wish she had a nice finish line photo to hang on the wall. We’ll just settle for that really nice shot of the two of us, standing proud with our medals, happy that we’re done with our 2nd marathon together!
Napster Story at the Detroit Free Press. It’s coming back. I was a bit surprised to see that their t-shirts were for selling on Roxio’s site. Makes sense now.
I can’t believe it! Arnold Shwarzenegger is the governor of the state of California! The dude is just “huge”. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out.
Not sure how I found it, but check this out. It’s some animations from Napster, demonstrating that they are on their way back. I remember now, I saw it as a skyscraper ad on a Yahoo news page. The Napster brand is so big, that whatever they do, they can make an impact, and a comeback, even if people have to PAY to use their service. Napster changed and revolutionized the music industry. I’m excited to see what they have up their sleeves!
I was bored the other day, and I was thinking: Since I use Unix servers at work for web development now and going forward, and since my server runs on Red Hat 7, I think it’d be a great idea to run Red Hat Linux at home, somewhere. Well, for now, I installed it on my laptop (this, what I’m working on right now). I am dual-booting. And I have to say that I’m thrilled. Damn 1600x1200 screen on this thing is kind of tough and hard to read, but I’m managing at the moment.
I am VERY impressed with how sharp the screen fonts are. I think the fonts are as smooth as the fonts on Mac OS X are. Windows XP doesn’t do very well with its Clear Type technology, but it IS a valiant effort.
That’s all, just wanted to say how thrilled I am with Red Hat 9 on this laptop. I’ll probably install it on my desktop, too.
We did it! The race has come and gone. For now, as I’m tired, sore, and exhausted…I just want to say that Michelle and I had a fantastic run together! We stayed with each other for over 20 miles! She had a bad cramp, and I broke loose. We finished 2:44 apart.
