Torn on which laptop!

· Uncategorized

I don’t think I’m buying a laptop any time soon, but you never know. I was himmin’ and hawin’ between a Mac or a PC laptop. I’ve recently decided that it would make most sense to get a laptop that runs Windows… but… last night, after work, I stopped by JT$’s place and got to play with his 15" PowerBook G4… man, that thing is nice, thin, and super sleek! I might have to reconsider getting a PowerBook! Whoa is me!

Migracious and last night’s art show!
I hate headaches. So I had a whopping two beers last night at Matt Busch’s art show at the Emerald Theatre in Mount Clemens last night. Maybe it was the second hand smoke. My body must not like second hand smoke! It was very good to see Matt’s work, Matt, Frank, Delena, Denny, and Leah! Matt does some awesome work. Some of his latest stuff, The Hulk, rocks!

Monday Night Football

· Uncategorized

David Duck came by last night to visit and watch Monday Night Football. It was the 49ers vs. the Steelers. I wanted him to experience what watching football in high definition (HD) was like. I knew he’d fall in love with it. I don’t know why I’m an evangelist about HD. I think it’s because I really want people to see TV this way. It’s just WAY better. Why would you NOT want to watch something that is so damn crisp and clean?

Kapla’s Krusade
Justin and Nicole are writing so much in their blog that it’s making me writing more in mine. I have been a bit laxed lately.

I spent the weekend cleaning up our yard and getting the house more winterized. I removed the nasty bushes that were in the corners of the backyard in preparation for doing our own backyard planning next year. I also swapped out the screen doors with glass doors, turned off most of the water lines that go to the outside of the house, and started to clean up the garage to get it ready to be able to part BOTH vehicles inside.

Dismal Drive In Today
Another one of those rainy, sometimes hard, mornings. Made my commute about 1:15 instead of 45. It didn’t help that I was computer lifing for about 45 minutes before I actually left for work. Oh well, can’t win ’em all!

Had fun with my brother last night!

Dino came over last night so we could work on some websites and our webserver. We’re on a mission to consolidate as many domains onto the same IP address as possible. We’ve been under the impression that we need separate IP addresses for each domain that requires e-mail and some other services. We were wrong, well, we were mislead at the time by our host, CI Host. They’ve done us no wrong, just some misinformation by some techs back in the day. We’ve been with them for over 2 years and things couldn’t be better!

We didn’t get to the website work much more than planning what we’re going to do. We did, however, do what we do best, computer life in each other’s company, drank a few brewskies, and played a few games on the Gamecube. Dino always beats me in Madden this year, whether on the PC or on the Cube. I need my revenge!

All in all, it was a great night, and like usual, he stayed until some time past 4 A.M.!!!

Crazy windstorm!!!

· Uncategorized

Man…what a crazy night! I think Michelle was up every 15 minutes, nonstop, all night long. Poor girl! We had wind gusts over 55 mph last night. At one point, Michelle got up and said the grill cover was off of the BBQ. I didn’t think that was even possible, but this morning, on our way out to work, we found the grill cover wrapped over the entrance to the backyard. Crazy! We also found our two city garbage cans knocked over, the plastic, fold-up downspout extension blown halfway across the front yard and various other things blown around. Kind of cool! Winter, bring it on!!!! GIVE US SNOW!!!

Forgot this...

I forgot to mention that someone proposed to his girlfriend on the big screen at Lambeau Field on Monday Night Football! It was awesome!!!!

What a great long weekend.

· Uncategorized

Most people would want to go somewhere like Florida, or Arizona, for a long weekend. Michelle and I had such a great time visiting Dave and Sarah and their families this past weekend. Maybe it’s because we like the Midwest and the people of the Midwest, or maybe it’s because we like to spend time with Pepe and Sarah, or maybe it’s because we like how Green Bay is a bit slower than what we’re normally accustomed to. Green Bay is definitely slower. The only thing that was fast was getting to the Monday Night Football game last night. Even that wasn’t too bad. Getting to the Silverdome used to be a nightmare, but for some reason, getting to Flambeau, as I like to call it, didn’t seem too bad. The rain kind of sucked, but it helped to put us in that “Frozen Tundra” kind of mood. The only thing that would have been better is snow. If it were snowing, the overall environment would have been a bit easier to cope with, as the wet and cold kind of sucks. We dug deep though, had plent of beers, and had a damn good time. It’s too bad that the Packers lost such a close game to the Philadephia Eagles. Oh well.

Hanging out with Dr. and Mrs. Pappas and the rest of the family over the weekend was great. They are all such nice people, and so much fun. Most of them are die-hard football fans, and those who aren’t are still pretty neat, themselves.

I am completely honored that Pepe asked me to be his best man. I thought him and Sarah were kidding when they said that yesterday. Its kind of cool that they waited until the weekend was almost over before they finally asked me. It’s going to be so much fun going to their wedding next December 31, and being involved with their wedding. We will plan on heading to Green Bay next December 26th, or 27th, to give us plenty of time to be involved with the rehearsal dinner, last minute festivities, and anything else that is part of the Pepe/Sarah union. Hooo ah!

9:55 EST:
Made it home safe and sound. Man, that sure beats driving. Get home in 2 hours, net vs. 9 hours. But, it costs 450 bux vs. 100 bux in gas? So, what, 4 hours of travel and 450 bux or 18 hours of travel and 100 bux. Not sure it’s easy to come up with a better choice…

Having fun in Green Bay

· Uncategorized

Michelle and I are having a great, relaxing time in Green Bay so far! We pretty much got her on Friday night and immediately hit up a local bar, Nicki’s. Had some Blue Moon, which I paid for on Saturday morning with a temporary headache. That Blue Moon is some damn sweet beer. The sweeter it is, the harder it hurts!

Saturday, we had a nice family lunch with the Pappas family, helped them to prepare for Dave and Sarah’s engagment party. Saturday night, we had their part at his mom and dad’s house from about 5pm until somewhere near midnight. We had TONS of fun with his sisters and their husbands/boyfriends, aunts, uncles, grandmas, grandpa, etc. Dave and Sarah’s friends also joined in on the fun and helped us to drink a refrigerator full of beer! Good times. Click the photos link in the right nav to see pictures of this event!

Sunday, we had a nice family breakfast, and the sisters went back to Milwaukee where Krysten and Beth go to school and where Lisa and Jeff live. We went bye Dave and Sarah’s house which they have their closing on Nov. 13 and they move in on November 22. We drove by St. Mary’s where they will get married, and then we went to Lambeau Field to have lunch and watch some football at Curly’s, which just opened in September, named after Curly Lambeau, if you didn’t know that already. Sunday afternoon, we came back home and watched football and just hung out with Dave’s parents. It was very relaxing, actually. It was actually good quality time talking about Dave when he was young, and the rest of the family. We always have such nice talks with Dr. and Mrs. Patrickus. :D

Today, we just bs’d around Green Bay: taking Dave’s gloves back, buying some gloves for Michelle at Kohl’s, having a lunch buffet (the bing continues) at Godfather’s Pizza and then coming back home where we veg’d a bit, while getting ready, mentally, for the big game!

Oooopp, Pepe’s out of the shower. That’s my cue. Oh, Paul, Dave’s cousin, in from New Jersey for the game, just stopped by and visited. We’re going to tailgate, although it’s indoors, with him and Herb, his brother.

The game is going to be a damn good time!

Green Bay...here we come!

· Uncategorized

Michelle and I are leaving for Green Bay tonight some time after 8pm from Flint! We’re pretty excited to go visit Pepe, Sarah, and his family. We’re invited to his engagement party which is being held on Saturday at the Pappas family house. We also get to see the house that Pepe and Sarah bought, as well as getting to go to Monday Night Football at Lambeau Field with the Packers vs. the Eagles! My 2nd Monday Night game and my 3rd game at Lambeau overall. My other game was actually a Sunday night game. I’ve never been there during the game.

PHEW!!!

I thought I butchered my blog entries while doing some server cleanup!!!! I butchred the published HTML files, but somehow, the entries were still alive in the blog server. I am trying to figure out where it actually keeps the entries… I don’t care though, it’s back, and I don’t have to pay CI Host the $50 to get them restored!

Got the Saab back...again!

· Uncategorized

Okay, so I got the Saab back after they bent my wheel. I’m kind of glad that they actually documented it in the tech paperwork. This way, if I ever have grief with alignments, etc., I can always refer to the blunder the tech made, and admitted! I am still not 100% sure that the car is 10)% stable anymore. On the way into work this morning, at about 80MPH, it felt like there was a tiny rumble. It’s going to be hard to NOT feel little things like this, as I am always going to be looking to feel if one of the other 3 wheels didn’t get bent when he ran over a rock. I think they should have thoroughly tested and changed BOTH wheels on the side of the bent wheel. I have a feeling I’ll be taking it back in to get this corrected in the future. They did, however, do some Tech II menu customizing for me. They enabled the auto-lock on drive (I think 5MPH), auto-unlock on key-out, and the best part, the one press unlock from in the car and from the FOB. Makes for unlocking the OTHER doors easier. Don’t have to press it twice anymore!

Born shoes
I bought my first pair of Born shoes the other day. They look great, and they feel great, sort of. My left shoe is 105% perfect! The right show, however, seems a bit weird. It seems that my heel doesn’t sit in the heel cup just right. It kind of sits UP on the vertical part of the heel, causing some discomfort. I’m going to have to take them back and see if I can try another pair of 10 1/2s on to see if maybe the ones I got have some strange quality issue.

HOLY SMOKES!!!

New server!!! We got our server upgraded at around NOON EST today! We got our processor speed doubled, from a 1GHz AMD Duron to a 2GHz Celeron. It went from 2 bogomips to 4 bogomips. We also had our storage increased form 30GB to 40GB. We had our memory quadrupled from 128MB to 512MB. This is going to be our biggest gain in performance, for certain!!! I am so happy!

Sorry I’ve been out of the BLOG circuit these past few days. Been a little mentally “booked”.
