Old Cherokee

· Uncategorized

So I was going through all of my eBay transactions yesterday and ran across the transaction I made with my Cherokee I sold!!! I emailed the guy who bought it and he politely wrote back, attaching an image of the Cherokee, saying he LOVED IT! He’s since moved from New York to Florida!

Here she is:

Finally Snowed!!!

· Uncategorized

I’ve wanted it to snow ALL Winter, all 20 days of it or so! We finally got our snow… and let me tell you, it snowed a helluva lot near my parts, and even more further North. Near work, it didn’t snow all that much… maybe 5 inches, tops. Near me, closer to 9 or 10 inches.

So, I started my trek home at 2PM yesterday. I was heading towards the Somerset Collection to get my 15GB iPod. Surprisingly, in the beginning of the real snowstorm, I made it there in about 1h10m. Not bad, considering I almost crashed into one wall on the I-94 East entrance ramp from Michigan Ave. and that I don’t have AWD or 4WD. Anyway, I snagged the iPod (which is scratched) and headed back out. I knew it would be a bear. I left at about 3:45 from the Mall and got home at about 5:30. CRAZY. It took me 50% longer to get from the Mall home than it took to get from Dearborn to the Mall. I knew this, though, since I was going to be traversing on surface streets instead of Interstate Highways.

Traction Control
Something AWESOME I was able to experience yesterday was Saab’s traction control system on my 93 Vector. Simply amazing. Not only does it affect the front axle in terms of shifting power from wheel to wheel, but it also affects the throttle. I was unaware of this and was wondering when I had it floored why the RPMs were only at about 1800 to 3000, depending on the conditions… the car electronically adjusts the power to each wheel and the throttle to get the traction it needs. FAST FORWARD –==> As I shoveled half of the driveway, which took about :45 (the one time I wish I had a snowblower), I realized I needed to get the Saab into the garage and OUT of the middle of the street. So, I backed in… amazingly, the car took about :20 to get up the driveway using it’s traction control system. I would have it floored, and it would go to about 2000 RPM…it would slowl apply power to a wheel up front, and it’d crawl back (I was in reverse, remember)… it would then release power, keeping RPMs at about 1800, and then again, slowly give power… it was vere reminiscint of rock-crawling with the Jeep. I was amazed.

Shoveling
What I thought would be about :30 was more like 1:30 to shovel the driveway, walkway, porch, and both sides of the sidewalk… I LOVE the light, fluffy snow, but when it’s 10", it doesn’t matter how light and fluffy it is! It took forever. I laid down a coating of salt, and the driveway was GORGEOUS this morning. See above!

Pistons game and my own BDAY gift...

· Uncategorized

So…my first Pistons game in quite some time, about a year or so. My cousin Ike scored some AWESOME tickets! Mind you, the Pistons are on a 9 game win-streak before this game. Anyway, we sat 7 rows from the floor, not counting the 2 rows that are actually ON the floor. We sat directly LEFT of the bench. The seats were awesome! Demo and Jason came, too…the original B-UNIT!

Here’s an example of how close we sat:

We left with about 2 minutes left in the game because Ike and I had to take a whiz.

Be sure the check out the photo album and also be sure to see the dude with the gold grill…it was tight!

I am going to the Pistons <> Raptors game tonight with Ike, Demo, and Jason…the original B-Unit (beefcake unit)!! I’m so excited! I haven’t been to a game this year, and the Pistons are on a 9 game winning streak! Should be a damn good time!

This came from my buddy, Kevin:

Can you imagine walking down the hallway at work to get a coffee and BAM the glass shatters and this bad boy comes running down the hallway? This deer jumped through the office window at one of the offices down at Visteon in Grandeview. About 8:10 yesterday morning the deer ran straight through the mirrored window and into the office. Who needs to sit in a tree stand all morning when they can come right to your office? Since the office window is mirrored on the outside, this buck must have been looking for a fight.

Fantastic Family Weekend!!

· Uncategorized

What a nice weekend. I spent Friday night and the good part of the “day” Saturday doing some computer consulting work…which is a good thing. Now I can buy an iPod. :D But the rest of the weekend was reserved for good, quality family time!

Saturday night was my cousin, Lilly’s, 40th surprise birthday party at my cousin, Ike’s house. It was awesome! Lilly thought it was going to be a family dinner that we’ve been trying to have every month or so (only had about 4 or 5) since her mom (my aunt) died last January 22. I almost gave it away early last week when I told her I’d see her on Saturday, and she said: Yeah, at Ike’s. And I said: How did you know about that? (A major giveaway). She didn’t fully put it together, and I played along with her answer: Yeah, for the family dinner. I sounded dumb for not knowing, but she probably thought I just forgot, since my memory sucks. So that was Saturday night. We watched a lot of football upstairs (those who cared) while the party went on downstairs. She was really surprised, by the way, when she saw all her childhood friends there… brought tears to her eyes, and the eyes of many onlookers.

Sunday was the 1 year memorial service for my aunt Sophia at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. It was kind of funny to get the normal barrage of questions about babies from the Greek ladies. It’s cute. I like it. It was also funny to see the Greek ladies asking Dino about his wedding and prying about what church he’d get married in. He told them he’s not religious… it was fun.

The rest of Sunday was spent watching two playoff games. Indy vs. Kansas City and Green Bay vs. Philly. The Indy game was kind of boring, actually… since it was pretty much back and forth… I LOVE Priest Holmes. I wish they won, for his sake, but I’m glad Peyton Manning won…he’s a QB STUD!!! But…he’s not the STUD McNabb is. Man, that dude had 102 yards running, a modern day QB rushing record…. and Brett Favre…what a mistake to throw that OT interception… had it not been for that, or for a few other things, then it’d be GB vs. CAR next Sunday night. Oh well… Philly should beat Carolina, and New England should beat Indy. We’ll see.

Would you believe this lady?

· Uncategorized

She admitted today that her claim to the winning Mega Millions ticket was false. What a loser! What an outrage. I wonder how much money her false claim cost, overall? This would include police and other law enforcement authorities, news coverage, etc…. I could only imagine it’d have costed 10s of thousands of dollars, mayben even 100s of thousands.

Now, THIS lady:

Is pretty tight. I’m glad she won. She’s all put together.
