Belle Tire update

· Uncategorized

Okay, so I take the Saab back to Belle Tire yesterday to get my wheels back, once and for all… Guess what? They called me saying the wheels came back and they weren’t fully refinished. I had to go back there and get my car, with the nasty chrome Pulse wheels that wobble at high speeds.

What a nightmare. So, to save about $80 by ordering tires online and having them mounted locally, I ended up spending at least 4 hours of my time to get the tires mounted and now the Saab OEM wheels fixed. Lesson learned!

Belle Tire issue...

Okay, so they were kind enough to correct the problem they caused to my Saab wheels. I took my car there yesterday to get that process started. They told me it’d be about :45 to get the wheels swapped. WRONG! It took them about 2:15 to get the car back to me. I was pretty upset. On top of that, when I was driving home on the Southfield FWY, my wheels were wobbling at speeds above 50mph. I was too far to head back and have them fix it, plus, I didn’t want them delaying my life any more than it was already delayed. They told me to bring it into the store on Thursday morning. Well, I did that. Took about :57 minutes to get the car back to me. They put in some plastic rings that helped to center the wheels to my hubs. Well, it doesn’t wobble as much, and it seems to only wobble at speeds above 70mph. They said they’d call me tomorrow morning, as they’d have my wheels back at that time. What a mess. All this because I wanted to save a few bucks and order the tires online and them have a shop that didn’t sell me the tires mount them. Discount Tire’s never done me wrong. Oh well.

Best Resignation Letter Ever!

· Uncategorized

My cousin, Demo, sent this one along:

Best Resignation Letter Ever Written

Following is a supposed letter of resignation from an employee at a computer company, to her boss, who apparently resigned very soon afterwards! It’s Funny, but a bit harsh

Dear Mr. Smith,

As a graduate of an institution of higher education, I have a few very basic expectations. Chief among these is that my direct superiors have an intellect that ranges above the common ground squirrel. After your consistent and annoying harassment of my co-workers and me during the commission of our duties, I can only surmise that you are one of the few true genetic wastes of our time.

Asking me, a network administrator, to explain every little nuance of everything I do each time you happen to stroll into my office is not only a waste of time, but also a waste of precious oxygen. I was hired because I know how to network computer systems, and you were apparently hired to provide amusement to myself and other employees, who watch you vainly attempt to understand the concept of “cut and paste” for the hundredth time.

You will never understand computers. Something as incredibly simple as binary still gives you too many options. You will also never understand why people hate you, but I am going to try and explain it to you, even though I am sure this will be just as effective as telling you what an IP is. Your shiny new iMac has more personality than you ever will.

You walk around the building all day, shiftlessly looking for fault in others. You have a sharp dressed useless look about you that may have worked for your interview, but now that you actually have responsibility, you pawn it off on overworked staff, hoping their talent will cover for your glaring ineptitude. In a world of managerial evolution, you are the blue-green algae that everyone else eats and laughs at. Managers like you are a sad proof of the Dilbert principle. Since this situation is unlikely to change without you getting a full frontal lobotomy reversal, I am forced to tender my resignation, however I have a few parting thoughts.

  1. When someone calls you in reference to employment, it is illegal for you to give me a bad recommendation. The most you can say to hurt me is “I prefer not to comment.” I will have friends randomly call you over the next couple of years to keep you honest, because I know you would be unable to do it on your own.
  2. I have all the passwords to every account on the system, and I know every password you have used for the last five years. If you decide to get cute, I am going to publish your “favorites list”, which I conveniently saved when you made me “back up” your useless files. I do believe that terms like “Lolita” are not usually viewed favorably by the administration.
  3. When you borrowed the digital camera to “take pictures of your Mother’s birthday,” you neglected to mention that you were going to take pictures of yourself in the mirror nude. Then you forgot to erase them like the techno-moron you really are. Suffice it to say I have never seen such odd acts with a sauce bottle, but I assure you that those have been copied and kept in safe places pending the authoring of a glowing letter of recommendation. (Try to use a spell check please; I hate having to correct your mistakes.)

Thank you for your time, and I expect the letter of recommendation on my desk by 8:00 am tomorrow. One word of this to anybody, and all of your little twisted repugnant obsessions will be open to the public. Never f*** with your systems administrator. Why? Because they know what you do with all that free time!

Wishing you a grand and glorious day,

Cecelia

Belle Tire... grief, but resolution!

· Uncategorized

I can’t believe this turn of events… for ONCE, something worked out in my favor in the consumer marketplace!

A few weeks back, I had to get some new tires for the Saab. I decided to be cheap and get some Sumitomos instead of the OEM Pirelli P-Zero Rossos they put on at the factory. It was a big difference in cost. Anyway, I had the Belle Tire on Michigan Avenue, near Outer Dr., mount them. Shouldn’t have been a big deal, but it took quite some time, almost two hours. I’m sure part of this was waiting to get the car in the garage.

Anyway… I was cleaning the Saab the other day, first time in a long time, over a month and a half, I think, and I noticed that while cleaning the wheels, there were gouges near each and every valve stem (count it: four!). Crazy. I knew that I had one gouge on the outer rear left wheel, from a car wash track that I drove into and steered too far left.

Anway… I decided that I needed to at least ASK Belle Tire about this problem and see if they could do it. I thought about just going there and asking them about it, in person, but I thought I’d get a poor response. Instead, I went to Belle Tire’s website and filled out the Contact Us form. “Yeah, right!” is what I thought.

Anyway… I was flabbergasted when I received a call from the manager of the store yesterday asking me about what happened. He told me to bring the car in today, near lunchtime, and he’d have a look and see if he couldn’t get me taken care of.

I took the car there at about 11:30, met with Tom and Hectore, and showed them the gouged wheels. They are going to give me loaner wheels tomorrow (ones that will at least look cool, Tom said) and send my wheels out to get refinished! That means even the scuff or two that I caused on my own will get fixed! Total cost: $380-500.

I’m very thankful it was handled this way. The letter I wrote to them was very courteous and professional. I hope that had something to do with this.

On a side note, I have slight migracious brewing…

Dino's shower weekend

· Uncategorized

This weekend was pretty busy with Dino and Danielle’s wedding shower. Saturday, the girls made the centerpieces at my mom and dad’s house. We were there having a BBQ for their 38th anniversary, mainly. It was very nice. The girls put the final touches on Sunday’s shower.

The shower was absolutely wonderful. It was at Andiamo on the Lakefront in St. Clair Shores. It was held upstairs, and the room was beautiful. The staff there was top notch. They helped us bring gifts and decorations upstairs to start off. They were courteous throughout the afternoon. I had fun at the bar with Mr. Pensule, as well as my dad, Rob, and Demo. It was also nice to see the family and friends that were invited, as well as getting a chance to meet a few new faces. Dino and Danielle were very thankful and courteous, themselves, the entire day! After the shower, we went to Dino’s house to unload gifts and just hang out for about 2 hours, just BSing, laughing, and generally hanging out.

Saturday, we had an awesome 13 mile training run. I haven’t talked much about our marathon training this summer. It’s been going quite well actually. I had a bad 12 mile run last week, so Saturday’s 13 miler was very refreshing. You need a rebound week after you have a poor outing.

Machine back up...

Okay, so my machine was brought back to me today. The PC guy couldn’t find the cause to my grief, but he blew away my Profile and made a new one. Let’s see if that helps.

Something ate my files...

· Uncategorized

Today, something at work decided to eat my files in My Documents. I was merely trying to update my training log, which is an Excel file I keep in My Documents. Strange stuff. All of my work documents have been butchered, too. This includes some websites I work on at work. I don’t get it. I did notice something strange when I first booted up and loaded Outllook XP. It gave me an error message stating that my Personal Folders hadn’t been shut down properly…and then it had a progress meter. After a few seconds, though, Oulook, and all my folders, local, and remote, came up.

I just can't believe these two Greek sprinters!

· Uncategorized

You know…your country is hosting the Olympics, you’re both fantastic sprinters, with high potential for winning an Olympic medal. Instead of just showing up, doing what’s right, you skip the drug testing (to give yourself a chance to get clean, perhaps), you lie (maybe) about being involved in a motorcycle accident…and then you get the IOC to give you a few days to defend yourself.

IOC gives sprinters two days
