At Heathrow Airport in England, a 300-foot red carpet was stretched out to Air Force One and President Bush strode to a warm but dignified handshake from Queen Elizabeth II. They rode in a silver 1934 Bentley to the edge of central London where they boarded an open 17th century coach hitched to six magnificent white horses. As they rode toward Buckingham Palace, each looking to their side and waving to the thousands of cheering Britons lining the streets, all was going well. This was indeed a glorious display of pageantry and dignity.
Suddenly the scene was shattered when the right rear horse let rip the most horrendous, earth-shattering, eye-smarting blast of flatulence, and the coach immediately filled with noxious fumes. Uncomfortable, but maintaining control, the two dignitaries did their best to ignore the whole incident, but then the Queen decided that this was a ridiculous manner with which to handle a most embarrassing situation.
She turned to Mr. Bush and explained, “Mr. President, please accept my regrets. I’m sure you understand that there are some things even a Queen cannot control.”
George W., ever the Texas gentleman, replied, “Your Majesty, don’t worry ‘bout it. You know, if you hadn’t said anything I woulda thought it was one of the horses.”
A few months ago, I brought our TrailBlazer into Les Stanford Chevrolet, in Dearborn, MI. There is a vibrating noise that occurs in the front end when you slowly accelerate in first and second gear. Anyway, they didn’t fix the problem, and I didn’t bother to call back Mike, the service writer. Anyway, what I DID do was send them a “0” on the survey that Chevrolet (or the dealership, I forgot) sent me.
Well, when I brought the TrailBlazer back in there at lunch, he was upset that I reported a “0” on the survey and that I should’ve called him before doing that, as it makes the dealership’s service department, and him, look bad. Well, I didn’t apologize, per se, and I even went as far as asking for a loaner, since I had to bring this back after the first attempt didn’t work. Well, this is when he mentioned the “0” on the survey. I asked him if that made the difference in the loaner, and he said that it was a Chevrolet policy he couldn’t break. You what? F him. I’m in convenience with this whole thing. So, they are going to take the truck in tomorrow morning, drive me to work with their shuttle, and then I’ll probably get screwed and they’ll call me at 5:59PM saying the vehicle is ready, since I kind of screwed them with the survey, right?
Michelle and I are going to the Lions game. It’s my second game at Ford Field, and Michelle’s first. The only other game I went to was with Pepe, and we sat at the roof of the endzone. Good times, for certain, in Packerland. Today’s seats are at the 40 yard line, 41st row. I’m excited to sit in some good seats at Ford Field, and excited to take in a football game with Michelle. Thanks Dr. Pappas for hooking up the tickets!
On a side note, I’ve run 0 of 28 miles this week. Weather permitting, I’ll do 12 miles…but I’m just not feeling like it.
So, I was asking some of my friends today, Norman and Scott, if they installed Google’s Desktop utility. Neither of them said they did. Norman, surprisingly, said he wasn’t sure if he trusted it…something like that.
Well, check out this blog. The author raises some very good points.
Okay, so I’ve been using Google’s Desktop Search. It’s pretty neat. Not sure how often I actually need to search on my computer, but I guess I know that if I need to, I can do it. It works quite well. However, they need to add more indexability to their product. It only idexes a small amount of applications. Mainly, people would like to be able to search their other IM clients chatting activity, as well as Mozilla products, Firefox/Mozilla and Thunderbird. Also, they need to support other OSes, like Mac, and maybe even Linux.
We’ll see. I’m sure Google’s plight will continue. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll have GoogleOS. Wouldn’t that be wild?
Why bother having a color screen and the ability to view photos if you don’t also have built-in card slots. That’s just my opinion. The article mentions using Belkins media reader, which is supposed to suck the life out of your battery before you can even empty a decent-sized CF card. The question would arise, though, if there were slots on the iPod, which ones? If you had all of them, the device would probably be too big. Convergance, that’s what we need. We need a device with 1TB of storage, that’s as small as a small cell phone that does everything! Music, movies, photos, email, SMS, surf the web, play games, and what else… convert speech to text!
Yeah… I’m still reading it. I know I posted the link on Friday, but I’m just now getting CLOSE to having fully read it. It’s a great article. I’m not at the punchline yet, but it’s very intriguing.
Can I push a baby stroller, use a walking stick, roller blade, take my dog, or wear a walk man?
We are sorry, but NONE of these objects are permitted on the course. It is against USAT&F rules and are a safety hazard and will be strictly enforced on the course.
Of the 3 marathon training seasons I’ve had, this year’s 20 miler was the best one, by nearl half an hour! I did my 20 mile run yesterday morning in 3:02:58, about 26 minutes faster than last year, and at a 9:09 pace! I’m pretty excited for the race, but, anything can happen that day!!!

Okay, I was looking at one of my favorite sites just now, right before I walk out the door to head home, and I see this article about a die-hard PC User’s experience with an Apple Macintosh for a month.
