The National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged they had
covertly funded a multi-state project with auto makers where black box
voice recorders were installed in four-wheel drive pickup trucks and SUV’s
in an effort to understand the last 15 seconds of a fatal accident. The
Board was surprised to find the recorded last words of drivers in 48 of the 50
states were all the same: “Oh, SHIT!” Only the states of Wisconsin and
Minnesota were different, where the final words wer e: “Hold my beer, I’m
gonna try somethin.”
Well, this Saturday was Peter and Ben day #2. We had a blast. We played. We went to my mom and dad’s house, where I was able to fix their furnace with the help fo Dino and his neighbor, John, who gave me some tips as to what to look for in their furnace. It kept starting up and then shutting down, immediately. I had to lightly sand off this little metal “finger” that acts as some sort of sensor. I was so happy it was something I could do! I just wish I could fix my burping toilet!!! DOH!
After that, we went home and ate our lunch and then just played, waiting for Michelle to come home from school. This time, Ben was actually able to take a decent nap, unlike last weekend, when the bass-fest was going on!
The 14th was our first play day. Michelle has class for 3 hours and Ben and I got to hang out. We first had lunch, then we went to visit Ben’s cousin, Angelina, for a few hours. Ben and I also got to see our friend, Jon, who had his first baby-feeding (from a bottle) experience. It was tender.
Jon feeding Ben! Afterwards, Ben and I went to Costco for about an hour to return a few things and pick up a few things. It was my first time ever taking Ben out with me to run errands and visit besides dropping him off in the morning before work!
It was fun, and we both look forward to this coming Saturday!!!
One of the exciting toys that Ben got for Christmas was this really cool “table” toy. It’s got all sorts of little sliders, buttons (ABCs), and spinning things for him to play with!

Well, I haven’t installed the new version of WordPress (this blog’s software) because I’m too busy/lazy.
Life is good. Ben is growing. He’s teething. He’s doing more and more stuff. Crawling like a madman. Standing up next to anything he can get a hold of. Smiling, laughing, just being awesome!!!
Well, since meeting Eric and Joe, I’ve been opened up to some new websites to visit for gathering information in regards to what’s new on the net. One of those sites is Digg.com. It’s a pretty cool website, similar to del.icio.us, but different in that it’s mainly news stories rather than bookmarks to everything from A to Z that del.icio.us users may add to their personal bookmark lists.
Another site, one that is more exciting for me, is mininova.org. Mininova is a site that lists torrents for download. These torrents can be anything from music, to movies, to games, to applications. I may have to quit my Giganews account and save myself 13 bux a month. Thanks a lot, friends. Oh, to get torrents, you need a bit torrent client, something like ABC (Another Bit Torrent Client).
Anywho, I’m real glad to have this new job at Wayne State. Things are going well, and the people there are amazing.
I need to vent. I had a burned out low-beam headlamp, so I wanted to replace the bulbs, myself, to prevent having to waste time at the dealer. After all, it should be a no-brainer to change the bulbs. Well, it wasn’t. After dismantling my front fascia (damn near), I realized that the headlight assemblies were attached with a 3rd screw (first two were simple, up top) to the inner fender-walls. I gave up and told myself I’d take it to the dealer.
Mind you, I pay extra for having a car rental so that my service appointments will be as smooth as possible, keeping me from my wasting my time as much as possible.
They didn’t have a rental for me; they said they’d call me when they got one later today. 2) They told me they’d charge me .3 hours (@ $85/hr.) to put in the one bulb that wasn’t burned out (aftermarket Sylvania Silverstar). 3) When the car was done, they didn’t page me. I had to ask. It had been done for at LEAST 15 minutes. 4) When I went to pay, they charged me .6 hours (.3 per bulb). 5) They corrected the charge, I paid, then proceeded to complain to the service manager. 6) He gave me his card, apologized, credited my account for the .3 hours and told me to talk to him if I was ever there again with grief.
Blizzard Entertainment today announced that World of Warcraft, its massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), has surpassed 5 million customers worldwide.
Last night was my commencements. Graduated with an MBA from Wayne State University, my employer now. =)
We had an absolutely wonderful time. The ceremony was actually much smoother and quicker than I expected. Michelle came down to help celebrate with me and our classmates (she’s almost done, herself).
My yiayia passed away earlier this year. Today would’ve been her 90th birthday. I love you, Yiayia! I’ll never forget the many years we had together when you helped mama raise us when we moved to Sterling Heights.
